calisthenics
Calisthenics is a form of exercise that uses body weight to build strength, flexibility, and endurance. It includes movements like push-ups, pull-ups, squats, and planks, focusing on functional fitness and often performed in rhythmic sequences. Calisthenics can be scaled for all fitness levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners, who often incorporate more complex movements like muscle-ups and planches.
Group Classes
Our group classes are focused on pushing movements, pulling movements and leg exercises, depending on the day. Our small class allows our trainer to you improve your form and guide you through the workouts.
Private Sessions
Want to focus on something in particular? Are you seeking a more individualized plan? We offer private sessions where we can tailor your workout to achieve a specific goal or meet your individual needs.
Nordic contrast therapy
Contrast therapy is a recovery method that involves alternating between hot and cold treatments. At Calisthenics Club Houston, we use a sauna for heat and a plunge tub for cold treatments. This technique is believed to help reduce muscle soreness, improve circulation, and promote recovery after intense physical activity.
The benefits of contrast therapy are not only physical. Contrast therapy can also boost mood and mental energy through the release of positive hormones, improve attention and focus, and improve brain function.
Heat Benefits
Heating the body helps open up the blood vessels and improve circulation. This increases the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the muscles to aid in cellular repair and regeneration.
Cold Benefits
Cold water immersion constricts the blood vessels in the extremities and diverts flow to the core vital organs. The blood flow to the extremities is significantly enhanced after emerging from the cold. Other benefits include reduced inflammation and activation of brown fat which promotes weight loss.
Hot and Cold Cycling
The contrasting hot and cold cycles excentuate the benefits of both heat and cold therapy. Our medical experts recommend alternating 15 min of heat followed by 3 minutes of cold for 3 cycles.
